CARAVAN PARK
A secluded family Park situated behind the Yorkshire Hussar Inn, an Olde World Village Pub in the heart of North Yorkshire midway between the Ancient Cathedral City of Ripon and the cosmopolitan Spa Town of Harrogate. Only 2 miles from Fountains Abbey and Brimham Rocks, close to Emmerdale and Herriot Country and the Dales. Yet convenient for Shops, Theatres, Cinemas, Golf, Swimming, Horse Riding, the Races, Walking, Dancing or just staying and relaxing at the Village Inn.
The Caravan Site is open from Easter/April to October. It is attractively situated at the rear of our ‘Olde World’ Country Inn, in the centre of the village of Markington. Sheltered & secluded in a pleasant garden setting. The site is licensed for 75 static caravans with a few Tourers & Tents, set within six acres of land
The Idea of a Caravan Park was discussed over a pint of beer (as all good ideas are) with Mr Hebert Fox back in 1949, when he asked Jim Brayshaw if he and his brother could bring their little caravans here so that he didn't have to drive home to Batley. They stayed here for approx 5yrs but when Jim applied for a Site License for 11 caravans they decided to leave because that was too many vans! Jim later applied for 30 vans and again later for 75.
The Park Reception was originally three outside toilets and coal sheds for the cottages which were converted in 1980, when Jim & Ishbel retired from the pub in 1982 allowing their son Peter to take over. The reception was originally run from the Pub Kitchen Door.
