BEECHWOOD TERRACE

beechwood terrace.png

A row of eight semi-detached council  properties built in 1928.

Number 8 Beechwood Terrace became the new Police House, having previously been sited at Beverley Cottage on the High Street

The West Riding Constabulary plaque can just be seen above the front door in the picture below. Following the building of  Kingwood in 1949, it was moved there to number 24, where it remained until the early 1970's. Due to Police re-organisation, it was decided that the village did not warrant a permanent police presence. It then became a domestic property.
